Baas Boppe Baas (Netherlands)

Baas Boppe Baas

At the bottom of this post is a link to episode 1 of the Dutch series "Baas Boppe Baas" about Beant Baas the Grandad of the family the series is based around. This series is actually in the language Frisian, not Dutch. Frisian is the closest language to English, but the pronunciation is quite different. It's been influenced by Dutch, the second closest language to English. In this series, one regular character Talieta (his daughter in law) speaks Dutch the whole time, but she understands the Frisian the other characters are speaking. In this episode, the property developer speaks Dutch some of the time, but also Frisian. The property development sign is in Dutch and so is the email written on the distinctive, classic CRT style iMac computer from the turn of the century.

Synopsis:

Beant Baas (Rense Westra) is angry because a property developer (Hilbert Dijkstra) wants to build a service flat in the village. However, his daughter in law Talieta (Meriyem Manders) sees the flat as suitable for her in laws, Beant and Joukje (Hilly Harms). She eats and flirts with the project developer! How far will she go to achieve her goal is the big question.

(original Frisian version)

"Beant Baas (Rense Westra) is poer om't in projektûntwikkeler (Hilbert Dijkstra) in serviceflat yn it doarp bouwe wol. Skoandochter Talieta (Meriyem Manders) sjocht de flat lykwols wol sitten om har skoanâlden, Beant en Joukje (Hilly Harms), it hûs út te wurkjen. Se aaiket en flaaiket mei de projektûntwikkelder om! Hoefier sil se gean om har sin te krijen is de grutte fraach".

IT Planeet Summary

IT PLANEET

Episode 1

We see an old man sitting at home. He seems to be some kind of mad inventor. He‘s attaching a razor blade to some kind of connector, which he drops into a container of water.

We see a DHL courier driving along in his van.

Meanwhile the mad inventor He plugs the cable attached to it into an mains electrical socket, which then immediately blows out! In spite of this, the razor blade seems to be heating up the water.

The DHL driver continues on his way. He see a particular package shaking.

A countdown starts on the screen, saying something like 12 hours before contact.

The man is fiddling with lots of pieces of equipment. Eventually, he puts on a pair of headphones.

The DHL driver arrives outside the man‘s house, then when he sees it looks quite unusual, he starts sounding his horn. The man takes several seconds to realise what the sound is. His equipment starts smoking, then there‘s an explosion near the gate, just as the DHL courier is approaching!

We suddenly see a alien spaceship travelling through space. It seems to be passing Earth‘s Moon. A caption on screen says something like 10 hours before contact. The ship may be called “MAA“. We see three crew members, two male, one female. The ship‘s computer is making a report out loud, then prints out some data. There‘s a heated discussion between the three crew members.

Meanwhile, back in Estonia, the DHL courier is getting very impatient and honking his horn a lot. The man is extinguishing a fire. After he‘s finished, he signs on a clipboard and the DHL courier hands him a package. A neighbour comes rushing out of a large caravan or mobile home. He‘s upset about something. He talks to his neighbour and the DHL courier about it. He says something about a mobile phone. The DHL courier leaves. The inventor accuses his neighbour of being a communist, which seems to upset him even more. The inventor changes some fuses, which it seems may be what caused the fire.

On the alien ship, there‘s a dog called Laika. This is the same name as the dog that was sent up and died in the Sputnik satellite in 1957! It even looks the same. Could it be the same dog? It seems the USSR had no means of bringing their satelllite back down to Earth.

The inventor man is still playing with his equipment. He looks at an old B&W photo, possibly showing him and his wife. He pours out a drink, then puts the still nearly full bottle on top of a piece of equipment, which looks like a control console.  He opens the package, which contains a laptop. He turns it on, but just gets an error message scrolling up the screen. He phones a helpline, but at the other end there only seems to be a recorded message. He tells them the error message is “INSERT SYSTEM DISK OR PRESS ANY KEY TO CONTINUE“. It seems to me that this is a very old message built into the BIOS ROM, which is expecting to boot up from a floppy disk, probably containing MS-DOS. It may have happened due to a run down CMOS battery making the laptop forget about booting from hard drive, or the hard drive itself being corrupted. The man knocks the bottle of drink over, spilling it onto the console, which blows up, then a chain reaction somehow causes a freak ball of blue energy to be fired from his satellite dish up into space where it hits the alien ship!

On the ship, the three aliens are viewing some old videos from Earth on a monochrome display which can show several videos on different parts of the screen at once. These include Adolf Hitler, Laika and the Sputnik, as well as Captain Kirk in Star Trek The Original Series.

In Estonia, the inventor man is recovering from the explosion, then he‘s very annoyed with his laptop and takes it outside. He‘s about to shoot it, when all of a sudden the alien ship lands right in front of him! The aliens get out, then start playing the old Soviet anthem, displaying the Soviet Union and Estonian Soviet Socialist Republic flags, as well as giving Soviet style Communist greetings in Russian!  This upsets the man so much that he shoots at them!

The three aliens try to work out what to do next. The female alien goes out again with her hands raised in surrender, then starts speaking in Estonian. I think she says her name is Laakle. After she says a few words, the man puts his gun down!

Episode 2

The man is feeding the three aliens some of his noodles at home. Laika the dog  is with them. It seems that the dog is called a Cosmonaut, meaning that it‘s actually the dog from Sputnik! The time is 10 hours after contact.

Meanwhile, in Talinn the capital of Estonia, it seems that some “men in black“ are getting ready for something. There‘s some kind of conference going on.

At the man‘s house, someone has come round to try and fix his computer. He‘s eating cereal and reading a book about UFOs at the same time. He makes some comments about the operating systems Windows, Mac OS, and Linux. He has a ponytail, possinly fake. The aliens suddenly come out of hiding. One of them pulls his pony tail. They each say the name of one of the three operating systems he‘s just mentioned. He then leaves, with a hand from the three aliens who lift the back of his car when it gets stuck.

One of the aliens asks the inventor man who they call Helmut, about money. He gives him a banknote. The alien takes the note to his ship‘s computer, which analyses it.

It‘s 13 hours since contact was made with the aliens, then two men in black arrive on the scene.

The aliens remove lots of items made of fabric from the man‘s house, but not synthetics. They feed them into their computer, then it produces lots of banknotes from these materials! They all seem to be €5 (Five Euro) notes.

The men in black see the aliens and the man driving past in a car, with banknotes falling out of the windows. They follow it.

The aliens go ino a shop, but the man decides to stay in his car. The aliens say they want to buy a computer with Windows, Mac OS, and/or Linux. The men in black arrive outside. A shop assistant soon notices that the serial numbers on the notes are the same! The Police are called, then the aliens are arrested and taken away. The men in black nearly don‘t notice as they‘re singing along to a song on the radio and the man doesn‘t notice at all, then goes into the shop to look for them. He drives home, where he‘s greeted by Laika. Later on the aliens are brought back by the men in black. The aliens have brought three computers with them. Two are marked Sony VAIO, while the other is a Mac. These computers are being used by the men in black to spy on them, though!

(The Estonian language, unlike almost every language spoken in Europe, isn‘t an Indo European language! This makes it quite different from the other languages. It‘s a member of a whole different language family. This means it‘s about as different from Indo European languages as Chinese, Japanese, or Swahili! Due to this problem, I haven‘t learnt it and was only able to write a summary based on what I saw, not what the characters were actually saying. There are another 8 episodes of this series. Please watch them and try to work out for yourself what‘s going on!)

Medicopter 117: “Heisser Schnee“ (Hot Snow) Episode Summary

(To help you follow the video, I‘ve put times in brackets showing where the description has got up to)

**This Episode runs from 02:10- 55.08 in the video file!**

A man is flying a private propeller driven plane, but suddenly gets into trouble! He calls Munich Tower Air Traffic Control for help, but it seems that even they can‘t help him. He parachutes out of the plane, which then crashes into a cliff face, but his parachute doesn‘t help him enough, due to a shockwave from the explosion, then he falls to the ground, breaking his leg against a rock!

Meanwhile, back at Medicopter 117 base, three members of the crew (Mark, Jens, and Peter) are chatting about and comparing their mountain climbing skills and getting ready for a mountaineering trip, then the base gets another emergency call, which is only attended by other members of the crew who aren‘t about to go mountaineering. The whole team is also planning a works celebration and suggesting possible venues for it.

The Medicopter 117 crew members Mark, Jens, and Peter are setting out on their mountainineering trip. One of them suggests climbing the southern face, but another one says they‘d never even considered that route before. (07.03)

We suddenly see two men hanging round outside a car parked in the middle of some mountains, looking fishy. The car has a white sheet on the roof with a red X painted on it. One of them talks to someone on his mobile phone. He mentions the southern face. He tells his mate that the plane has crashed. (08.06)

Medicopter 117 arrives at the scene where the Pilot who‘s broken his leg has landed. They quickly treat him, then fly him away from the scene for treatment at Rosenheim Clinic. (12.05)

Mark, Jens, and Peter arrive at their destination for the mountaining trip. Little do they know that the two dodgy men arrive in their car somewhere nearby at about the same time. One of them is holding some kind of tracker device which indicates that whatever they‘re looking for is 3.33Km away! (13.26)

The Medicopter 117 mountaineers stop for a break, and something to eat, shouting “Zeit für eine Rast, ich hab‘ Hunger!“ (“Time for a rest, I‘m hungry!“), (13.59) They each shout “Mahlzeit!“ (“Mealtime!“) Meanwhile, the two men with the tracker are getting closer to their goal, but they‘re also hungry. They change into mountaineering gear. The Medicopter 117 mountainers try to guess what their Boss‘s middle initial E in the name Gunnar E Höppler stands for.

The two men have got a long, steep climb to reach some Cocaine worth €2,000,000 which they plan to pick up. Little do they know that the three Medicopter 117 mountainers are climbing up the same face of the same mountain at the same time!

One of the two drug dealers, called Will, falls part of the way down the mountain. This is witnessed by the Medicopter 117 group, who go over to help him. They manage to lower him down onto a ledge before his accomplice comes down to join them.

Mark (in red) of the Medicopter 117 team tells the other drug dealer that he‘s a Doctor. He asks what happened, then his accomplice says he went on ahead, tried to secure his mate, but he doesn‘t really know as it was all so quick. Mark says his injuries are serious, namely concussion, a cracked skull, broken shin, and two broken ribs on the right hand side. They tell him they‘d better phone their colleagues as they‘re all Medicopter staff. Jens (in yellow) makes the call to Max who passes it on to Gina. Unfortunately, the helicopter has a faulty auto pilot which is removed for urgent repair. Gina takes off with the Paramedic Florian Lenz and Dr Karin Thaler, but without the Auto Pilot.

Meanwhile on the mountain, the other Medicopter 117 team members tell the uninjured drug dealer to get some water out of a rucksack, then spot that he has a gun in his jacket pocket. When he realises they‘re seen it, he draws it out, points it at  them, then tells them to stay down and not move! (23.02)

The armed drug dealer promises not to hurt the Medicopter 117 members on the mountain so long as their helicopter picks up his accomplice. He warns them his gun contains 6 bullets, which makes 2 for each of them!

Florian gets lowered down onto the mountain ledge with a medical kit. Peter writes the word “HILFE!“ (HELP!) on a notebook for treatments and patient‘s notes, then leaves it in the medical bag Florian brought with him. After Jens tells Florian to take that bag with him, the injured drug  dealer and Florian are lifted off the mountain by Medicopter 117. (27.34)

Meanwhile back on the mountain, the armed drug dealer says the Medicopter 117 colleagues are very professional, but so is he. He tells them at gunpoint to throw their mobile phones off the mountain ledge, so they do. (35.20) He tells tell they must help him to pick up a package, but refuses to tell them what kind of package.

Medicopter 117 is nearing its destination. On the mountain ledge the armed drug dealer chooses Jens to go and fetch the package, but Mark offers to go instead because his colleague hasn‘t had enough training. The drug dealer rejects this, saying it‘s his chance to get some training! (37.06)

Meanwhile, Medicopter 117 drops off the injured drug dealer at a medical facility. Dr Karin Thaler says he has a suspected concussion.

Back on the mountain, Jens is being forced to climb up the mountain, tied by a long line to the gunman. While the gunman is distracted watching him, Mark and Peter try to overpower him, but then he shoots Mark in the leg and maintains his control over them, telling them to hold still. (38.47)

The gunman suddenly cuts Mark‘s line, causing him to fall down the mountain! (39.13)

At the hospital, Florian tells one of the Doctors there that the injured drug dealer must have fallen about 50 metres. Dr Karin Thaler rips off the sheet describing the patient‘s treatment from the pad, which reveals the note calling for help, written previously by their colleague Peter on the mountain. She immediately shows it to Florian. (39.51)  They quickly rush back into Medicopter 117 which takes off. (40.12)

Jens is still climbing the mountain to get the package, while below them Mark is lying further down the mountain, possibly with a broken leg. Between them, the other two are waiting for the package. (40.51)

Jens finds the package and ties it to himself. (42.24) The drug dealer suddenly starts throwing a fit, just because he loses sight of Jens for a few seconds, then tries to pull him down the mountain! (42.43)

Approaching the mountain, Gina suddenly shouts “Mark ist verletzt! Jens ist in Schwierigkeiten!“ (“Mark‘s injured! Jens is in difficulty!“) Dr Thaler sees the armed drug dealer trying to pull Jens down the mountain.

Medicopter 117 is hovering nearby. The drug dealer takes aim at them, but the other Medicopter 117 crew member points out that he can‘t watch everone. “Denk Dich mal dran. Wenn Du das Ding nur eine Sekunde wegnimmst, dann bist Du dran“ (“Just think. If you‘re distracted for just a second, then your time‘s up!“ Suddenly, Jens manages to untie the line connected him to the drug dealer, so this means he‘s escaped from him! (43.44)

Dr Thaler tells Florian to get an emergency medical kit in a rucksack and put a walkie talkie into it, then lower it down to Mark, then they‘ll go and rescue Jens. (44.03)

Gina calls Medicopter HQ and asks them to call the Police. Jens is managing to hold onto the mountain without any line to help them, then Florian is lowered down to pick him up. (45.37)

Florian grabs Mark, then they‘re both pulled up to Medicopter 117. The armed drug dealer threatens to shoot Peter, but he says “Das wurde ich nicht tun. Ich bin Deine letzte Geisel. Ohne mich kein Koks“ (“I wouldn‘t do that.I‘m your last hostage. No Coke without me“). (46.35)

Mark opens the medical rucksack and grabs the walkie talkie.  He says that he‘ll be alright for the moment as he can treat himself, so he tells Gina that first of all they must get Peter to safety. Gina tells him to hang on. (47.11)

The gunman grabs Peter, points a gun at his head and shouts out “OK, wie soll es Jetzt weiter gehen?“ (OK, what are we supposed to do now?“) Jens, shouting down from the helicopter suggests that they exchange the package of Cocaine for Peter, but if he doesn‘t agree, then he‘ll open the package and all the Cocaine will just blow away in the wind. The gunman agrees to the exchange. (47.31)

The package is lowered down on what looks like a stretcher, but then Peter manages to grab it and shouts “What now?“ He either doesn‘t trust the gunman, or wants to make sure he doesn‘t get his Cocaine. There‘s a struggle between them two of them., then suddenly they‘re both hanging from the package in mid air on a line from Medicopter 117! Gina flies to a clearing, where they both lose their grip and the drug dealer loses his gun. (50.17) Jens jumps off the helicopter and grabs the drug dealer, they roll over and the drug dealer manages to get his gun back, then points it at Jens! (50.31) He says that now he‘ll have to shoot both of them as a matter of principle. At that moment, Medicopter 117 flies past and hits him on the back with a weight on the end of a line, knocking him down to the ground. After this, his  two former hostages jump on him and tie him up. (51.18)

After all this, they have to go and pick up Mark, who‘s still lying on the mountain. Dr Thaler asks what Mark‘s blood group is, then they tell her AB Negative. This is the rarest of the standard A, B, and O positive and negative blood groups. None of the others has this blood group, but Gina is O Negative, which Dr Thaler points out can be donated to anyone with another Negative blood group.

Jens flies Medicopter 117 to pick up Mark, while Dr Karin Thaler takes blood from Gina. (52.45)

Florian is lowered down to Mark, then they‘re both pulled up. Jens radios ahead to a medical facility with an intensive care unit, asking them to prepare for a patient who‘s lost a lot of blood. (53.06)

Later on, they finally have the works do, attended by Medicopter 117 crew members, Max the Mechanic, and their local base Manager Gunnar. It‘s been a week since Mark went into hospital. Max says they should have waited until Mark was back on his feet, bu the Manager says he  phoned and Mark insisted they should go ahead without him. At that moment, Medicopter 117 suddenly lands, then Mark appears, accompanied by Gina. Max and Gunnar can‘t help crying over this!

Finally, Mark asks Gunnar on behalf of everone what the E in the middle of his name stands for. He tells them it‘s for Eros, then everyone bursts out laughing! (55.08 END)

Medicopter 117 "Abgezockt" (Ripped Off) Episode Summary

19 Jul, 2019, No comments

Dr Karin Thaler with the Paramedic Folrian Lenz
Please note that the link to the episode is in the post BELOW this post.
(This episode starts at 04:26 in and runs to 53:19)

A family are out in the countryside. A husband and wife are arguing. The wife Sonja tells her husband Rene that she wanted to have kids with him, but he‘s hopping from one bed to another, having four “little affairs“ this year. He says he‘s heard that she‘s been to see a Divorce Lawyer.

Suddenly, a masked gunman attacks the family, first by blowing up their jeep with a portable cannon. Then he kidnaps Sonja from the family at gunpoint.

Max, the Medicopter 117 Mechanic, gives Dr Karin Thaler a bouquet to thank her for having a word with a Medicopter service manaager which has resulted in him not being transferred to a service centre like all the other Medicopter mechanics.

Suddenly the Medicopter 117 team are called to an emergency where there are two injured people. As you might have guessed the emergency is the family who Sonja has been kidnapped from. One man needs urgent attention at the scene in case his condition worsens.

Meanwhile, back at the Medicopter 117 base a job ad is put up on a noticeboard, indicating that the organisation‘s whole structure is going to be reorganised. Dr Karin Thaler is told to go to a meeting immediately.

At the emergency scene, the Police turn up led by a detective called Heller, but the family members say they want to co operate with the kidnapper, otherwise they‘ll be putting Sonja‘s life in danger.

Dr Thaler arrives at the “urgent“ meeting, where the same Manager she met before tells her he‘s very impressed by her and how she stuck up for her colleagues. He offers her a promation to Head of their whole Medical Department, but he seems to want something in return.

Meanwhile, the kidnapper gets into anotherr vehicle with Sonja and handcuffs her to the back of the Driving Seat.

At the meeting, the Manager tells Dr Thaler “Eine Hand wäscht die andere“ (You scratch my back and I‘ll scratch yours). When Dr Thaler asks what he wants in return, he runs one finger down her cheek. She tells him “I‘m not interested in your offer, or in you!“, then walks out.

Medicopter 117 drops off an injured family member at a hospital.
The Police install a recording machine on the family‘s land line, ready for when the kidnapper phones.

However, the kidnapper seems to be some kind of telephone engineer. His van is painted with a telephone company name. He stops, in a remote spot then goes over to a junction box, opens it, plugs in an engineering handset, then calls the family. He greets Herr Neudeck and the Police who he says he knows are there, then demands €5,000,000 in small unmarked notes. Herr Neudeck says it will be difficult to get that amount together, but the kidnapper tells him to get the money from his secret account which he uses for bribes in the far east. Detective Heller tells the kidnapper that before any money is paid they demand evidence that Sonja is still alive. The kidnapper says he‘ll provide this, then ends the call. The Police couldn‘t trace the call. Heller advises the family to get the money ready, but that he doesn‘t care where it comes from.

Medicopter 117 returns to base, where we see a Pilot‘s daughter has come to visit him. She announces that she wants to become a paramedic after a Medicopter 117 paramedic Florian Lenz has told her all about it. Her Dad doesn‘t look too pleased about this.

Sonja manages to pull the seat headrest off, then whacks her kidnapper over the head with it several times! This causes him to lose control of the van which runs off the road and down a hill, turning over in the process. This is witnessed by a lorry driver. He only sees the kidnapper who tells him no one is injured, but in spite of this he calls for help. The kidnapper calls an accomplice to tell them what‘s happened and that he thinks they‘ll have to call everything off. We then see that the accomplice is Sonja‘s husband Rene! The kidnapper says that Sonja‘s obviously hurt, but he has no idea how badly. He tells the kidnapper, who he calls “Beckle“ that if they don‘t get the ransom money, then he can‘t pay him, end of discussion, or in other words “Kein Lösegeld, keine Kohle. Ende der Durchsage“. The lorry driver shouts out that the emergency Doctor and Police are on their way, but he‘s coming down to help anyway. He asks if his “wife“ is also injured, but he pretends Sonja isn‘t hurt. He bandages Beckle‘s knee telling him that it should last til the Doctor arrives, but then Beckle whacks him over the head with his gun so he can go off in his lorry.

At Medicopter 117 base the rest of the crew tell the Pilot that he shouldn‘t interfere with his daughter‘s plans to become a paramedic. The new duty roster is posted and Dr Karin Thaler returns. She says the meeting wasn‘t about anything important. Then the Medicopter 117 crew get another emergency call.
Medicopter 117 arrives at the scene where Beckle is moving Sonja to the lorry. He pretends to be the lorry driver, then tells them he‘s not sure what happened, but suddenly the van apppeared, it fell down the hill and this woman was lying there. Dr Thaler assesses Sonja‘s injuries. She says she has a ruptured spleen which was caused by her being tied up. Beckle says he doesn‘t know anything about that, but then the Paramedic Florian Lenz notices a logo on the back of his jacket which matches the crashed van, proving that he was the van driver, not the lorry driver. He then pulls out his gun and tells them to take her into the helicopter, then he gets in with them, pointing his gun. There are now Police cars arriving nearby. Beckle tells Dr Thaler that she must treat Sonja, but she says that she needs an operation, there‘s not enough room and she hasn‘t got the equipment. Dt Thaler says she knows where rthere‘s an abandoned practice with facilities which they can use, so that‘s what they decide to do.

Back at the family home, the Police pass on news of the crash and the Medicopter 117 crew who they say are now hostages, but that it‘ not clear what will happen now. The €5,000,000 arrives in the house.

At the abandoned facility Beckle kicks the locked door in. Dr Thaler says she‘ll do the bet she can. Beckle tells them if this woman dies, then you‘ll all die! He phones the family home from his mobile. He demands to speak to Sonja‘s husband. He tells him that he must bring the money all alone. He tells him his wife is now being operated on, but that afterwards he‘ll get proof that she‘s alive.

Sonja‘s situation is desperate. Dr Thaler says that her spleen must be removed and she doubts she‘ll survive, especially due to the risk of massive blood loss and their lack of plasma to replace it. Gina the Pilot gets some more equipment from the helicopter and points out the radio telephone antenna to Beckle so he can cut it off. Sonja‘s heart stops, It seems for a little while that she can‘t be revived. Beckle shouts “She‘s dead!“, but the Medicopter 117 team say she‘s not. All of a sudden, Sonja‘s heart starts beating again!

At the family home, Heller says that the ransom money has been treated to produce a chemical reaction after 48 hours, then become worthless and lead them to Beckle‘s whereabouts. Sonja‘s husband sees that this means the money will be no use to him, so he tells them he doesn‘t think this is a good idea. What if Beckle notices? The Police detective says this has been done with a new method taking anyone hours to notice that anything‘s wrong. Immediately after this, Sonja‘s husband texts Beckle to tell him the ransom money has been treated.

Beckle phones and tells them he thinks the money has been treated, so instead of money he wants something of the same €5,000,000 value. Sonja‘s husband says that thery have nothing like that apart from a few diamonds worth only half that amount. Beckle accepts this offer. He tells him to get into a car, without any Police following him, then drive south. He leaves the house, but it seems he takes the wrong phone with him, because there‘s a an identical Nokia phone lying on the same table. The Police say they‘ll follow at a safe distance, but the father asks if they‘re mad!

Beckle calls Rene, but her Dad answers. He gives her Dad the location to meet up, thinking he‘s talking to Rene instead. Her Dad hangs up without answering. Beckle thinks he‘s lost the signal. Rene husband phones Beckle asking where to meet up. He says he‘s already told him, but gives details again. This sequence of events depends on the old Nokia mobile phones having identical displays, as well as them remembering each others‘ numbers, instead of having them stored as contacts, and not looking at the screen to check who‘s calling!

Rene gets out of the car in a field holding the bag containing diamonds, when a heicopter suddenly lands. He gets blown over by the wind it makes. It turns out to be Sonja‘s Dad‘s helicopter instead of Medicopter 117. Her Dad tells him his game‘s up and throws his mobile phone at him, showing how he found out.

Beckle sees what‘s happened, then tells the Medicopter 117 crew not to land, but turn around instead. Beckle manages to continue to hold the crew hostage, then phones Rene with an updated plan that he brings the diamonds to him in the other helicopter with just the Pilot accompanying him. Rene is soon overpowered and held at gunpoint by Sonja‘s Dad and bodyguard, then they try to hide in the back seats to go and get Sonja back.

In an amazing twist of events, after Sonja‘s Dad‘s helicopter lands, the bodyguard gets knocked on the head by one of Medicopter 117‘s landing skis, then Rene grabs his gun and regains control. The diamonds are exchanged, but then Beckle decides to take them all for himself, kicking Rene to the ground, then going off in Medicopter 117 with just the Pilot.

Sonja‘s husband is determined to get his share of the diamonds, so then he points his gun and takes the other helicopter, piloted by Sonja‘s Dad! In the chase, Beckle is overpowered and drops the bag of diamonds out of the door, but the other helicopter keeps coming. Rene wants to kill Beckle before picking up the diamonds! After a few manoeuvres, Rene suddenly falls out of the heicopter to his death!

Beckle is overpowered, tied up and gagged by the Medicopter 117 crew, then arrested after landing. Sonja has survived the worst of it, but still needs to go to hospital.

At the end, Dr Thaler, Gina, and a Florian are discussing what‘s just happened. Florian says “We‘re a good team, aren‘t we?“, then Dr Thaler pulls him out of the helicopter, gets in and flies off with just Gina, saying „“Wir haben was vor!“ (We‘ve got plans), although there‘s no real indication what these plans are. Finally, they wave each other Goodbye.

Look and learn!

The main cause of isolationism in Britain is the extreme censorship of the mass media, according to language. This means a lack of TV orogrammes, films magazines, or books in other languages. It leads to an attitude of "these foreigners", meaning people who they don't know much about.

Here's a link to an episode of the German drama series "Medicopter 117". A detailed summary of this in English will be coming up in the next post!
